AutoTechSpot's editorial policy explains how we choose topics, research articles, verify claims, handle corrections, use technology, and protect editorial independence. Readers should be able to understand not only what we publish, but how and why it was produced.
Our editorial work is designed for U.S. car shoppers who need practical information about vehicle pricing, specs, safety, ownership costs, reliability context, technology, fuel economy, EV range, recalls, and competitor alternatives.
How Content Is Selected
AutoTechSpot chooses topics based on reader usefulness, search demand, automotive market relevance, vehicle availability, safety importance, ownership impact, and changes that may affect U.S. shoppers. We prioritize vehicles and issues that real buyers are likely to compare, research, finance, or own.
Coverage may include new car reviews, future-model previews, recalls, price changes, EV and hybrid updates, buying guides, comparisons, and car-shopping tools. We do not select editorial topics because an advertiser, affiliate partner, manufacturer, dealer, or agency asks us to publish a favorable article.
How Research Is Done
Research begins with official manufacturer information whenever available, including press releases, spec sheets, pricing announcements, warranty documents, trim details, order guides, and media materials. We also use public data from sources such as EPA fuel economy records, NHTSA recalls and safety information, IIHS crash-test ratings, and other credible industry sources.

Estimates may involve expected pricing, likely launch timing, projected range, or market positioning, and should be labeled as estimates rather than final facts.
Fact-Checking Process
Before publication, important factual claims are checked against available sources. This includes vehicle names, model years, prices, trims, powertrain details, horsepower and torque figures, fuel economy, EV range, safety ratings, recall status, warranty terms, and competitor comparisons. We also review whether a claim is current, properly framed, and useful for the reader.
If a detail cannot be confirmed, the article should either leave it out, explain that it is unconfirmed, or identify it as an estimate or expectation. We avoid turning rumors into facts. We also avoid unsupported superlatives, invented test-drive impressions, and claims that overstate certainty.
Source Standards
